Snowmobile Skis & Runners

Skis and runners are the most direct line between your handlebars and the trail. Modern aftermarket skis improve cornering bite and reduce darting on icy trails compared to OEM plastic. Pair them with the right carbide runners for your snow conditions and the sled steers like a different machine. Rogue Powersports stocks ski and runner combinations for Polaris, Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat, and Yamaha.

Snow Skis and Runner Options

  • Trail Skis: C&A Pro XPT and SLP Powder Pro skis offer a flat keel and double carbides for crisp trail steering on hardpack and groomed conditions.
  • Mountain and Powder Skis: Curve Industries XS and SLP Powder Pro Lite skis float wide on deep snow and pivot cleanly for hill climbing and tight tree riding.
  • Carbide Runners (4", 6", 8"): Stud Boy Shaper Bars and Woody's Slim Jim carbides match runner length to riding style. Longer cuts deeper, shorter pivots faster.
  • Saddleless and Saddle-Style Designs: Saddleless skis pivot more freely in deep snow. Saddle skis stabilize at speed on groomed trails. Pick the design that matches where you ride.
  • Ski Bushings and Hardware: Replacement ski rubbers, urethane bushings, and spindle bolts from BergStrom and SPI restore steering precision after a season of use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's a snowmobile ski runner?

Runners (also called skags or wear bars) are hardened steel and carbide bars bolted to the bottom of your skis. They bite into ice and packed snow for steering. Runners wear out faster than skis themselves.

How often should I replace ski runners?

Every 1–2 seasons of regular riding, or sooner on icy and rocky conditions. When the carbide is worn flush with the ski, replace immediately — running bare skis destroys the ski itself.

Aggressive runners or mild runners?

Aggressive (longer carbide, deeper bite) for hardpack and ice — bites better but causes darting. Mild (shorter, less aggressive) for powder and mixed conditions — easier steering, less darting. Match to your typical riding.

What's ski darting and how do I fix it?

Darting is when your ski follows ruts and grooves in the trail, pulling the bars side-to-side. Caused by overly aggressive carbides on a hard-packed trail. Solution: shorter or less aggressive carbides, or different ski stance.

Are aftermarket ski runners better than OEM?

Aftermarket runners often offer wider carbide selection, better-quality steel, and replaceable carbide tips. Brands like Stud Boy and Woody's are widely respected. OEM is fine but limits the upgrade path.
