Motorcycle Batteries for Reliable Starts
A weak battery is the most common reason a bike doesn't start when spring rolls around. Modern AGM and lithium-ion batteries hold a charge longer, weigh less, and survive cold cranking better than the conventional flooded batteries that came stock on older bikes. Rogue Powersports stocks direct-fit replacement batteries plus charging accessories.
Battery Chemistries and Sizes
- AGM Sealed Batteries: Yuasa YTX and Shorai sealed AGM batteries are the standard upgrade from flooded. No spill, no maintenance, longer shelf life. Direct-fit for most Harley, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki applications.
- Lithium-Ion Powersports Batteries: Shorai LFX and Antigravity lithium batteries cut weight by 60 to 80 percent over conventional. Major drop for race bikes and a noticeable handling change on lighter machines.
- High-Cranking Cruiser Batteries: Yuasa GYZ and Drag Specialties high-output batteries for big-displacement Harley Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight motors that need extra cranking amps.
- ATV and UTV Batteries: Sealed AGM batteries sized for sport ATV, utility quad, and side-by-side applications with vibration-resistant construction.
- Battery Cables and Hold-Downs: OEM-spec cables, terminals, and battery boxes for crash repair or restoration projects.

Frequently Asked Questions
What body parts need protection when riding?
Spine, chest, elbows, knees, hips, and wrists are most-injured in crashes. Quality riding gear has CE-rated armor at all these zones built in. Standalone protectors fill gaps — chest plates, back protectors, knee braces, kidney belts.
Do I need a back protector?
If your jacket has only a basic foam back insert, upgrade to a CE Level 2 back protector (Forcefield, T.PRO). The spine is the highest-consequence injury zone in motorcycle crashes — Level 2 absorbs significantly more impact than Level 1.
Are knee protectors necessary if my pants have armor?
Most riding pants have CE-rated knee armor. Standalone knee braces (Asterisk, EVS, Mobius) add ligament protection — preventing ACL and MCL tears in dirt and adventure riding. Brace systems are essential for off-road; optional for street.
CE Level 1 vs. Level 2 armor — what's the difference?
Level 2 absorbs more impact (transmits less force to the body) than Level 1 — it's the higher safety standard. Both are crashed-tested. Level 2 is recommended at least for spine and chest; elbow and knee Level 1 is generally adequate.
Do I need a chest protector?
For dirt, motocross, and adventure riding, yes — chest impacts from rocks, branches, and crashes are common. For street riding, chest protection is less common but reduces blunt-force injury in high-speed crashes. Roost guards offer light coverage; full chest protectors add more.
